Based on a true story, Soundtrack is a movie and life, music, success and the pitfalls that success can bring you. Raunak Kaul (Rajeev Khandelwal) is a small town guy that arrives in Mumbai with just three worldly possessions, his guitar, his headphones and a burning desire to make an impact as a musician. Soon enough, he lands a job at Tango Charlie, the most happening club in the city thanks to Charlie (Mohan Kapoor), who promises to make Raunak the biggest DJ this city has seen. Soon life becomes one giant drink all you can party and Raunak has the cynosure of all eyes, Shonali (Mrinalini Sharma), on his arm. Raunak is living the dream and spinning the beats to one giant party, namely life. But Raunak wants more, and Anurag Kashyap (playing himself) gives him a chance at being a music composer for a Bollywood film. Life, however, has other plans for Raunak and he is laid low by Tinnitus thanks to his exposure to incessantly loud music. His impending deafness threatens to shatter every dream Raunak holds dear, and a free-spirited speech therapist named Gauri (Soha Ali Khan) helps Raunak through one of the darkest phases of his life.
